Spirit & Soul Creations X Kilmaille Wallawar Reversible Art Merino Knit Blanket
A collaboration between two local family businesses, Sherry Johnstone at Spirit and Soul Creations and Sue & Malcolm McClure at Kilmaille Knits. This amazing piece of artwork has been transformed into a stunning blanket or throw for all sorts of purposes. It is made from Australian extra fine merino yarn, it is snuggly warm, soft and a delight to snuggly up with on a couch anywhere, any time.
About the Artwork: Wallawar means Glow in Peek Woorroong (Gunditjmara) language.
The story behind the Wallawar design was based on the thoughts of local Elders, reflecting on what our ancestors would have seen glow before colonisation. The use of the stars for navigation is represented in the top half of the design amongst the lightning, the volcanic lava flow from Macarthur to Killarney is represented through the middle, and the glow from all the campfires amongst the wetlands is represented in the bottom half of the design.
About Spirit & Soul Creations: Sherry is a proud descendant of the Keerray Woorroong Aboriginal people within the Marr Nation better know as Gundijtmara in the South West of Victori as well as the Yorta Yorta people. Her art blends traditional knowledge and the symbolism of the new. Infusing cultural connection, story nd perspective in a contemporary style.
